There Rose a Lamb in Jerusalem

Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die (John 11:25-26).

Easter is a special time for Christians as we celebrate the resurrection of our Savior, Jesus Christ though we should celebrate his resurrection daily. Without it we would have no hope beyond this life. For if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised: And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins. Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished. If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable (1 Cor 15:16-19).

Christ did rise. We are told so in Luke 24:6-7, He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee, Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again. He had. Foretold of his resurrection in Matthew 12:40, For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. Again in Luke 10:34 Christ prophesied his death and resurrection: And they shall mock him, and shall scourge him, and shall spit upon him, and shall kill him: and the third day he shall rise again.

He arose, Christ arose! And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay (Matt 28:5-6). We celebrate because we have the hope of the resurrection too! Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead (1 Peter 1:3). But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words (1 Thes 4:13-18). We are comforted! We rejoice

The words and music to There Rose a Lamb written written by Kyla Rowland. The song was first published in 1992 (copyright by Great RM Publishing/Lonesome Bend Publishing). The song has been recorded by several including the southern gospel group Gold City. I delight to hear There Rose a Lamb all through the year, not just at Easter.

It was the third day since He died
And it was said He would arise.
Then from the grave His plan came forth
Oh I have reason to rejoice.

He chose the place, He chose the hour
That He would rise by His own power.
A sacrifice three days ago
And now praise god the Lamb arose.

Chorus
There rose a lamb in Jerusalem.
He was the son of the great I Am.
He proved to be my victory
There rose a lamb in Jerusalem.

I wasn’t there when Jesus died.
I wasn’t there to see Him rise,
But I was there when He saved my soul
For within my heart His love arose

He arose, He arose, Hallelujah Christ arose.
He arose, He arose, Hallelujah Christ arose.
He proved to me my victory.
There rose a lamb in Jerusalem.

I love the story of the resurrection. it is the hope of humanity and of our hope every single day. all of history must come to terms with this fact. It is the best gift of all , and to all. You have done a beautiful essay of this most precious pearl of reality. he is the truth, the way and the life. Thank you, Mike.
